Rins, Torres, Barragan dan Alarte menang di pembuka CEV Buckler di Jerez

Rins, Torres, Barragán and Alarte win in CEV Buckler opener at Jerez
A fantastic day of racing was witnessed at the Jerez Circuit on Sunday, where just two weeks after the MotoGP race the first round of the 2011 CEV Buckler was attended by 15,500 spectators.

The day’s events got off to a spectacular start in the morning with a thrilling Moto2 race, in which Jordi Torres won following an intense duel with his team-mate Carmelo Morales. The pair continually swapped positions at the front of the race, and on the final lap Torres launched what was to be the deciding attack – one which Morales waited until the final turn to respond to but, due to a yellow flag following an accident, was unable to execute. The battle for third position was just as engrossing, with up to five riders fighting for the final spot on the podium. It was finally taken by Iván Moreno, ahead of the experienced Japanese rider Tomoyoshi Koyama – making his Moto2 debut – American rider and Red Bull Rookies Cup Champion Jake Gagne, and Román Ramos.
The second race of the day was the 125GP category event, which was dominated from start to finish by Alex Rins. The Spaniard, a pupil of Emilio Alzamora, started from pole position and did not look back, finishing ahead of team-mate Alex Márquez who recovered from a poor start to finish second following a lengthy battle with Italian rider Romano Fenati and Jorge Navarro. The latter of the duo took the final podium position having risen from 12th on the starting grid. An outstanding ride from Ana Carrasco was also a highlight of the race, as she made her debut under the guidance of Juan Enrique Maturana and David García Almansa, two ex-riders with extensive World Championship experience. The 14 year-old finished tenth on her CEV Buckler debut, becoming the first female in the history of the Spanish Championship to score points in the 125GP category.
In the Stock Extreme race Santiago Barragán (Kawasaki) rounded off a perfect weekend, taking victory from pole position. After an ideal start to the race in which he assumed first position, Barragán set a pace which initially only Dani Rivas (BMW) was able to follow. Debutant in the category Rivas was able to take the lead but Barragán responded to his attack by retaking first position and then pulling away. Behind, Xavier del Amor (BMW) made the recovery of the day and after an unspectacular start pulled back positions, eventually placing himself on the tail of Rivas before passing him with three laps to go to finish second, with Rivas placing third. The highest-placing privateer was Alejandro Mariñelarena, who finished fifth, whilst Elena Rosell placed eighth as she rounded off an excellent weekend for female riders in the CEV Buckler.
In the Kawasaki Ninja Cup, Antonio Alarte took his first victory. Last year’s fourth-placed rider in the overall standings is the main favourite for this year’s title after the switch to Moto2 of Ángel Molero and Adrián Menchén, and Mariñelarena’s move to Stock Extreme. Alarte found no obstacles on his way to victory and finished 11 seconds clear of second-placed Adriá Araujo and Alan Vilches in third.
The second round of the CEV Buckler will take place on May 7th at the MotorLand Aragón circuit.
